Danvers Public Schools hosted the Eighth Annual Special Olympics Danvers Day Games, on Tuesday May 8th, 2018 at Danvers High Dr. Deering Stadium from 9:30AM to 1:00PM. Students from Danvers and surrounding communities attended.
The Special Olympics is an international organization that changes lives by promoting understanding, acceptance and inclusion between people with and without intellectual disabilities. Founded in 1968 by Eunice Kennedy Shriver, Special Olympics provides people with intellectual disabilities continuing opportunities to realize their potential, develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and experience joy and friendship.
Thank you to those who joined us in cheering on the students as they competed in various athletic events throughout the day and strove to do their best to achieve their goals.
“Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”
