Project Graduation Class of 2022

Project Graduation The Danvers High School Project Graduation Committee is proud to present a reimagined Project Graduation event for the Class of 2022. This year instead of hosting an overnight event the Project Graduation Committee will be sponsoring the Danvers High School Senior Barbecue that will take place on Thursday, June 9, 2022, from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at the athletic fields at Danvers High.

Students will be entertained with a variety of interactive inflatable activities including an Adrenaline Rush Obstacle Course, Bungee Run, Axe Throwing game, Wrecking Ball game, Dunk Tank with some special guests, and lawn games. Students will also be treated to a full menu of barbeque foods, popcorn, cotton candy, and an ice cream sundae bar donated by Cherry Farm Creamery. This event will allow all DHS seniors to celebrate together one last time a class.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Project Graduation is a parent volunteer committee. We are currently seeking volunteers who can help at the Senior BBQ on Thursday, June 9, 2022, between 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. If you are available and interested in helping, please visit our on-line sign up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0E44AEA72DA1F58-project

GATORADE DONATIONS NEEDED The Project Graduation Committee is seeking donations of 12oz Gatorade drinks for the BBQ. If you can donate to this event, please visit our on-line donation sign up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0E44AEA72DA1F58-project

DHS Class of 2020 Graduation Details

Dear Families of the DHS Class of 2020,

We are less than two weeks away from the 2020 DHS Commencement! We wanted to provide information on how to register for graduation and also provide some updates on what the ceremony will look like this year. Our priority is to celebrate the DHS Class of 2020 in a safe manner.

Date and Time

Graduation is scheduled for Saturday, August 1st with a start time of 8:30 am at Dr. Deering Stadium at DHS. Students should plan on reporting to the DHS Fieldhouse by 7:30 AM. The rain date for the event has been moved to Sunday, August 2nd.

Registration

DESE guidelines require that we keep attendance for graduation this year. Please complete the following registration form to indicate who will be attending graduation: DHS Graduation Registration. Please note this registration form is separate from the RSVP we sent out earlier this summer. We are asking that everyone complete the registration form by Friday, July 24th. We will be sending out tickets for all guests electronically the week of July 27th. Any graduate and/or their family who is not planning on attending is encouraged to contact Dr. Colombino. We want to be sure every graduate receives their diploma and recognition in a way that each family feels comfortable with.

Health and Safety Reminders

Face masks and social distancing are required at graduation and rehearsal at all times. Please remind students the importance of wearing face masks and socially distancing. Guests are asked to indicate on the registration form if you have a disability or medical issue that does not allow you to wear a face mask. Please note that anyone who refuses to wear a face mask without a valid justification and prior approval will be denied entry.

Guests

We understand and appreciate that high school graduation is an important milestone and rite of passage. At this time, attendance will include a maximum of two guests per graduate. This decision is based on guidelines from the Massachusetts Commissioner of Education around high school graduations. We will continue to monitor the situation around COVID-19 and be sure to update our plans accordingly. All guests will have assigned seats to maintain safety. Please note that any guests who do not live in the same household will be seated at least 6 feet apart per DESE guidelines.

Guests will be seated on the field on either side and behind graduates to ensure social distancing. In order to maintain a clear view of the stage for everyone, objects that could obstruct views, including but not limited to, umbrellas, tents, signs, flags or other large objects are prohibited.

Any attendees or participants who are “feeling sick, are exhibiting any of the following symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, or new loss of taste or smell), or have potentially been exposed to someone with confirmed or suspected COVID-19” (MA DESE) should not attend the ceremony.

People who are in an at-risk category according to CDC guidelines are discouraged from attending the ceremony.

Children under 5 are discouraged from attending. If children under 5 do attend, then children ages two through five are asked to wear a face mask at their family’s discretion. Children under two should not wear a face mask.

Diplomas

Each graduate will walk up to stage and receive their diploma, which will be placed on a small table. There will be no hugging or handshaking.

Other Information

-No food or drink is allowed on premise.

-We will have alcohol based hand sanitizers available for graduates and guests.

-Please exit in an orderly fashion maintaining social distancing. We are asking that guests and graduates do not idle on the field after graduation.

Graduation Rehearsal

Seniors will have a graduation rehearsal on Thursday, July 30th (rain date is Friday, July 31st) at DHS. We will conduct rehearsal based on the following schedule to limit the number of people:

8:00 am Last Name A-E

9:00 am Last Name F-L

10:00 am Last Name M-P

11:00 am Last Name Q-Z

Yearbooks

At the conclusion of rehearsal students will be able to pick up their yearbooks!

Television and Streaming Information

The DHS Class of 2020 graduation will be live streamed on DCAT to ensure that all families and friends can view the ceremony live. We will share the link to stream the ceremony with families prior to graduation.

We understand there are many aspects and details that are different this year. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we plan a graduation that maintains the traditions we all cherish as a community. Please contact me directly with questions. We look forward to the 2020 DHS Commencement and look forward to seeing you there!

Best,

Jason
