  • A STAR WARS CHRISTMAS PARTY in Support of “Griffin’s Gift”:   The Lamars, a local Danvers family, were overcome by the tragic loss of their two-year old son Griffin this summer.  With the support of countless family and friends, something beautiful has emerged, “Griffin’s Gift”. Created by his parents Nicole, a second grade teacher in Danvers, and Nate, a high school vice principal, along with incredible big sisters Addie and Maggie, “Griffin’s Gift” will help families that are trying to adopt a child, just like the Lamars did a few years ago with the adoption of their son Griffin.  Each of the hopeful families who enter into the adoption process, are faced with an initial financial cost of $30-40K. This is often a hurdle that many families cannot overcome. “Griffin’s Gift” was created to provide no-interest loans to qualified families who are hopeful that they too will one day welcome a child into their family through adoption. To honor the memory of our favorite Jedi, Griffin Lamar, “Griffin’s Gift” will be hosting a fundraiser,  “A Star Wars Christmas Party”, on Saturday, December TBD, 2017, at the Danversport Yacht Club, located at 161 Elliott Street, Danvers, Ma., from 12:00-4:00 p.m. It will be something that this young Padawan would have loved!  A holiday party filled with Star Wars characters, Jedi trainings, lightsaber duels, chocolate swamps, gingerbread “wookies”, Santa Claus and much more! Volunteers are needed from 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., and will be responsible for a variety of activities including set-up,  face painting, arts and crafts, assisting at the Santa station, and clean-up.  Volunteers are asked to commit to the full six hours.
