Our School Nurse
Mrs Sue DeBenedictis
The state mandates the following screenings for Grades 9 and 10. Screening are private and confidential. Screenings for vision, posture and hearing are completed each year to ascertain any problems that may hinder student learning. Students failing any of these screenings will receive a letter from the school nurse.
- Height, Weight, Vision and Hearing:
Grade 10 (Semester 1 & 2) during PE Class
- SBIRT ( Screening, Brief Intervention, Referral and Treatment):
Grade 10 (Semester 1)
- Postural Screening:
Gr 9 (Semester 1 & 2) during PE Class
Height, weight, vision, hearing and postural screenings are conducted by the Danvers High School Nurse with assistance from a school nurse substitute and a physical education teacher.
SBIRT screenings are conducted by the school nurses, guidance counselors and social workers.
If you would like to have you child “opt out” of these screenings, please send an email to email@example.com
Health Services Hours:
Our school nurses are available for students, everyday Monday through Thursday from 7:20am – 2:40pm, and Fridays until 2:00pm. Our school health services are NOT a substitute for the parental responsibility for medical care, but they do serve to supervise and inform parents of student needs.
Tylenol Policy and Online Consent Form
The following concerns Danvers High School Tylenol policy:
Danvers Public Schools has recently adopted a new policy regarding the administration of Tylenol/*Acetaminophen during the school day.
If you would like your child to be able to receive this medication (for fever or mild pain), during the 2016/2017 school year, please download and print a Parent Authorization Form for TYLENOL, complete it, and return it to your school nurse. Parents must complete and return the Authorization Form to the school nurse before Tylenol may be administered.
Please note that no medication will be administered unless the appropriate, signed paperwork is completed and on file. As part of this protocol, Tylenol/*Acetaminophen will not be administered until a parent/guardian has been contacted. This will apply to each/every dose.
It is, therefore, imperative that the school has all up-to-date contact numbers. As with all medications, Tylenol/*Acetaminophen may only be administered by the school nurse, and WILL NOT be sent on field trips.
Please be aware that this protocol applies to Tylenol/*Acetaminophen only. For your convenience, this medication will be provided by each school in accordance with the protocol. Please feel free to contact your school nurse with any questions or concerns.
*Acetaminophen is the generic name for Tylenol
For your convenience a consent form can be completed online and submitted. Please see the Consent form below:
