Danvers Public Schools Mission: DPS is a dynamic community of independent learners dedicated to respect, responsibility, creativity and the pursuit of academic and personal excellence.
On behalf of Riverside School, I would like to welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year. This school year we will focus on three major areas: safety, equity, and social emotional learning. The safety and health of our Riverside students, families, and staff will be our priority.
As always, we at Riverside will strive to teach our students kindness and to embrace differences. We will continue to help all students understand that they “never, ever should be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble.” (John Lewis). More than ever we will allow our students to express, share, and be heard.
We will continue to focus on our students, families, and staff well-being and social emotional needs. “In this moment of great uncertainty, it is imperative that we model grace and compassion and how we are all struggling and adjusting to this new reality. That’s going to be imperative not just for the next month but for the next year, given what we are all going through.” (Dr. Kyla Johnson-Trammell, Superintendent, Oakland Unified School District/CASEL 2020)
Finally, with your support and home/school partnership we will work together to ensure a safe, healthy, and successful school year.
Violetta Powers, Principal
